Seniors back, club upgrade continues, junior coaches prepare, polls are open & we welcome Carlisle Border City Wheelers.

Cockermouth Rufc continues to be a hub of activity as we get to week 1 of our Senior men’s pre season.

Head coach Stephen Reed has been delighted with the start to pre season with familiar faces and new signings hitting the training ground, working hard, jumping in ice baths and enjoying food and refreshments after to create an excellent positive vibe to the 24/25 season.

Wasps women/girls touch team are excited to head to their next festival which is on Friday 12th July at Arlecdon RLFC. All support welcome.

Although the junior start to the season is a bit off (September 2024) coach coordinator Brian Golightly already has the coaches back in preparing for the season.

The club is still much in need of volunteers to help the continued progression of the club, across coaches, first aiders and a first aid lead coordinator and help with social media/website development. Please speak to Chris Wright if interested.

Mark Astley and team continue to work hard on making the pitches be in their best condition as possible for September. A lot of hard work and know how going into this work, very much appreciated. Steve Stainton & Johnny Taylor with a big band of helpers continue to work hard on the facility development, this weekend the focus was on new fencing to keep unwanted visitors off our playing fields. This is vital to the safety of our players, please once again can we remind the public we are not a dog walking exercising area.

The club was very busy all day Thursday as we hosted the polling station for our ward, it was great to hear lots of people commenting positively on the club and agreeing to get up in the season and support the Wasps. We look forward to welcome you.

Sunday 7th July we are pleased to welcome Carlisle Border City Wheelers Cycling club who are using the club as a base for their 26 mile time trial. With over 60 entrants we are an ideal base for the event. We hope it’s a good ride out for you all..

As always we are open to helping out the local community and welcoming new members to our club. Please get in touch.
