Tackling and turnover

On Thursday evening, nine girls, ranging in age from under 12s to u16s, gathered for an exciting rugby training session. The focus of the evening was on key skills like tackling, turnover of the ball, rucking, and passing into space. The session kicked off with some dynamic warm-ups to get the players moving and engaged. The girls then broke into smaller groups to work on tackling techniques, practicing safe and effective ways to bring down opponents while maintaining control of the game. Coaches emphasized the importance of timing and positioning, helping the players develop confidence in their defensive abilities.

The second part of the session shifted to ball-handling skills, where the players worked on passing into space and making quick decisions under pressure. They also focused on rucking, learning how to secure possession and support their teammates in retaining the ball. A key highlight was practicing turnover situations, where the players worked on reacting quickly to changeovers in possession. By the end of the session, the girls had made significant progress in their technical skills, with lots of energy and enthusiasm as they wrapped up with a mini scrimmage to put everything they had learned into action. The session provided an excellent opportunity for the young players to develop their rugby abilities while fostering teamwork and a love for the game.
