Finley completed his u16s Newcastle Falcons academy journey in April as do all the players, part of the pathway is players would then need to be invited back to the u17s academy.

Finley thought that he may not have done enough to get invited back and waited for his feedback on his performance throughout the u16s pathway, as expected the feedback was direct but a true reflection on the good the bad but more importantly what Finley needs to work on.

Mid May Finley received confirmation from Newcastle Falcons academy that they would like him to be part of the u17s / U18s academy and take part in preseason training starting 4th July at Kingston Park.

As you can imagine Finley was blown away as he felt initially, he had not done enough to get invited back…now the hard work begins once again.

To top Finley being invited back to Newcastle Falcons academy, they have also asked if he would attend Tyne Metropolitan college and stay in the student accommodation through the week. He will look to gain three A levels where the course work is related to all things sport but with a large percentage of the work round rugby and playing rugby for the college with all the studying and training taking place at Kingston Park.

Finley is very excited in the next chapter of his young life, from just leaving Cockermouth school to relocating to the NE and doing what he enjoys “sports / playing rugby”.

He is also keen to keep his roots with Cockermouth Wasps and play for the Colts at weekends, he's going to be busy.... rugby, rugby, rugby! whatever happens Finley is grateful for the opportunity.
